This stunning heirloom quality coffee table top was constructed from a single slab of Oregon Black Walnut (Not glued together pieces as most tables this size are). The legs were constructed from Eastern Walnut for a very subtle contrast. All joinery was made with wooden dowels and glue, not screws or nails, to ensure it will last long enough to be handed down for generations.

Small cracks in the top were accentuated and stabilized with highly figured curly walnut bow ties from the very same tree as the table top.

I used an all natural hardwax finish popular in Europe, tested just as durable as polyurethane, but without that 'plastic' feel polyurethane can leave. The top is smooth as glass, but retains the amazing feel of the wood.
